Goolwa Pipi Co
A processing factory shopfront in Port Elliot selling fresh, de-sanded Coorong pipis (Kuti) year-round - operated in partnership with the Ngarrindjeri people.
Coorong pipis from the source
Goolwa Pipi Co is the only consumer-facing source for fresh Coorong pipis - the small intertidal shellfish (called Kuti by the Ngarrindjeri) harvested from the long open beach between Goolwa and the Coorong. The Port Elliot factory shopfront sells the pipis fresh, de-sanded and packed for take-home, year-round.
How it's caught
The pipi fishery is operated under licence in partnership with the Ngarrindjeri people whose Country includes the Coorong. The harvest is done by foot at low tide, sorted on the beach, and then trucked to the factory for processing.
What to buy
Fresh pipis in net bags or vacuum packs, ready to drop into a paella, a pasta or a Goolwa-style barbeque on the sand. Cooking instructions are on the bag.
