Alberto Forest

A revegetated forest area on Hindmarsh Island created by community Landcare planting - a quiet bushland walk with birdlife and views to the Murray channel.

A community forest

Alberto Forest is a revegetated bushland area on Hindmarsh Island, created by the Hindmarsh Island Landcare group through years of community planting and weed control. The forest covers a significant patch of formerly cleared paddock and has matured into native bushland with a developing canopy and rich understorey.

What you'll find

A quiet walking experience along informal tracks through the regenerating forest, with eucalypts, native peas, grasses and a steady birdlife. Kangaroos and possums are frequent. The site is a working example of community-led ecological restoration on the lower Murray.
